Earth at Prayer

The ocean fans out far
from where our fears our found.
The rocky shore of sin appears,
where faith and hope abound.

The oak trees fan out wide.
Their branches sweep the wind,
while human hearts forget to pray
and love submits to sin.

The moon rises harshly
behind a hill of clouds.
The Word of God illuminates
the shadows of the proud.

Stars, planets slowly dim.
The dawn has broken through.
The sun will drive the night away
while rainbows weave the dew.

The ocean fans out far,
its waves lapping at space.
And fallen spirits thirst for love
and rise to taste God's grace.
