Happiness Has Two Hands

Happiness has two hands.
With one hand,
choose a good tool and build something.
Make it tall or small,
beautiful or bold,
but work hard.
With the other,
find another empty hand
and weave it with yours.
Look for a good fit, and hold on.
Is that enough? Almost.
But do this too:

When the day is full of hours
and you are full of cares
thank the unpetitioned Sky.
Happiness may hear you
and make your hands sing so loudly
that even your neighbors will ask you
what kind of strange music
has made your fingers so bright and so inviting.
