Mercy's Reach

This world is bound by pain.
War rages. Hate is taught by sages.
We lash out and hurt.
We give them what they deserve.

Pain’s so sweet to give. But so hard to take.
Justice don't come cheap,
But mercy’s always been a reach.

God chose Mary, virgin
To bear the Spirit’s burden—
This child who would be King.
Angels asked a lot that night.
Mary pondered by their light,
“Will my Father shame me?
What shall I name thee?”

Pain’s so sweet to give. But so hard to take.
Justice don't come teach,
But mercy’s always been a reach.

Jesus worked with saws and nails.
Cut beams and doors for Temple ware.
“Hey! Mercy’s not for sale!”
He flipped tables of turtle doves.
Drove out sellers with whips of love.
In one week soldiers cursed him.
And Jesus hung and thirsted.

Pain’s so sweet to give. But so hard to take.
Justice don't come cheap,
But mercy’s always been a reach.

On Sunday morn she found his grave.
Jesus wasn’t lying in the cave.
He took the Magdalene in arm.
Tears of grace disarmed.
Grace washed away the stain
And love ran past the pain.
Despair redirected
And hope resurrected.

Pain’s so sweet to give. And sometimes hard to take.
But mercy’s not a reach
When Love shows up to teach:

Love is all we’ll ever need.
